Having witnessed the Monastery of the Virgin Mary the Consolatory’s efforts to remain a bastion of the Orthodox Christian tradition and female monasticism in Quebec over many years, our founding directors have long been aware of the Monastery’s various struggles to reach both its short- and long-term goals, several of which are still ongoing.
It’s with this knowledge and the Monastery’s values and dedication to preserving thesetraditions in mind that OSMOQ has come to be. Over the past several years, every one of our directors – all of whom are well-versed in Orthodox Christianity’s traditions – has built a personal relationship with the Monastery and a great admiration for the Sisters’ commitment to theOrthodox monastic way of life, and each can attest to the many hurdles the Sisters have encountered over the Monastery’s 30-year history, some of which have yet to be cleared.
Combining their expertise in charity law with a shared knowledge of the Orthodox canons and an everlasting fondness and admiration for the Monastery and its Sisters, OSMOQ’s directors have united to form a registered charity, raising funds to bring the Monastery some muchneeded relief and facilitating exciting projects that will allow it to survive and prosper.

OSMOQ is a registered charity that was founded to support the Monastery of the Virgin Mary the Consolatory in Quebec with fundraising initiatives.
OSMOQ aims to help by establishing an online platform to gather donations and support. The charity’s priority is to raise donations to aid the Monastery in completing the construction of new living quarters for its resident monastics, as well as providing ongoing support for regular maintenance and daily needs.
